MallinCam Micro Extended Control software
10/20/2015: This is version 1.0.2.0 of the control software I originally developed for myself to make it easy to preset or adjust the Exposure/Enhance settings on the MallinCam Micro camera. This version includes enhancements made by Simon Bayley that allow more efficient use of your desktop space. The main window with presets is much smaller. The Adjustments window and the Manual button window are now accessed from a menu bar. I have also made changes to keep the camera menu from timing out when the Adjustments window is active. Simon also pointed out a problem with the Gamma setting in the Custom 11-13 files which I have fixed. The Cluster preset has some slightly improved settings as well that produce better images of Clusters. I have found the improved Cluster preset also makes a good “preview” for centering Deep Sky Objects before clicking on the Deep Sky Object preset.
This version continues to support multiple custom presets, variable menu speed and ability to turn crosshairs on/off. It is available for free. This is a Windows application and requires a computer control cable for the Micro. It is compatible with the MallinCam Micro-EX, Micro-Super and Pro DOB II cameras.
Download and Installation Notes
If you are updating from a prior version, be sure to first uninstall the prior version by going to the Windows Control Panel and use add/remove programs to select and uninstall the "Micro Extended Control" program before installing the new version. To get the new versions of the presets, you will also need to delete the folder C:\MicroSettings
Click the Download button, unzip the downloaded file and click on setup.exe to install. Also download the new "Microextended.pdf" manual below for additional information.
The mxinstall.zip file was scanned when posted on this website and no virus were detected. I also downloaded the zip file and re-scanned it with Norton and Webroot to insure the file remained virus free.
Windows 10 Note: You may need to turn off your SmartScreen Filter if you see a notice that it blocked the download. Once you complete the download and installation, you should turn the SmartScreen Filter back on. To turn off/on the SmartScreen Filter, click on the 3 dots at the upper right of your browser and select Settings. Then click on View Advanced Settings and scroll down to the end where you can turn the SmartScreen Filter off and on.
